Roamigo (an AI audio tour guide) narrates the places around you. This page says what data the app uses and what happens to it.
No account
Version 1 has no sign-up and no account data. We do not ask for your name, email or phone number.
What the app uses
| Data | Why | What happens to it |
|---|---|---|
| Location (while the app is open) | Find nearby places and narrate them. | Sent to our server to look up places. Not tied to an identity. |
| Location (all the time, optional) | Keep narrating while your screen is off. | Only while Auto-play is on, and only if you choose "Allow all the time". Same use as above. A "Tour running" notification (Android) or location indicator (iPhone) shows while it is on. It stops when you turn Auto-play off, tap Stop in the notification, or end the tour. |
| Camera photos | Identify a landmark when you take a photo. | Sent to our server and a vision model provider. Deleted after processing. We do not keep photos. Photos taken without a connection wait on your phone (at most 24 hours) until they can be checked, then are deleted. |
| Microphone audio | Turn a spoken question into text. | Sent to our server and a speech-to-text provider. Deleted after it is transcribed. We do not keep recordings. |
| Feedback you send | "Not right?" on a photo answer, "Something wrong?" on a story, and Send feedback. | Kept by us to fix mistakes and measure how often the guide is wrong: what kind it was, the place ids (what we said and what you picked), your optional text (up to 300 characters), the tour id, a location rounded to about 100 m, the app version, and a one-way code made from your device id. Never a photo or a recording. |
| Compass direction | Which way the camera faced when you took a landmark photo, to tell nearby places apart. | Sent with the photo request and not kept. |
| Your questions and prompts | Write the narration or answer. | Sent to a model provider to produce the answer. |
Each permission is optional and asked only when you use the feature. Screen-off location is a separate, later question; saying "Not now" keeps the app working while it is open. You can turn any of them off in your device settings; the related feature will stop working.
Narration audio
Narration for a place may be generated once and stored so it can be played again for other people. It is made from public sources (OpenStreetMap, Wikipedia), not from your data.
Who else handles data (processors)
- Cloudflare: hosts our server and storage.
- OpenRouter and the model providers it routes to: text, vision and speech models.
- Geoapify: map places, walking routes and place search. Our server sends it map points (near where you are, and your tour stops) and search words, never who you are.
- Sentry (servers in the EU): crash reports. When the app crashes it sends what went wrong (the error, where in the app, the app version, phone model and system version). No IP address, no location, no photos or recordings, nothing that says who you are.
- OpenStreetMap and Wikipedia: public data sources. Requests to them are made by our server, not your device.
We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.
Retention
- Photos: deleted after processing. One that was uploaded but never processed is deleted within about 2 hours.
- Audio recordings: deleted after transcription. One that was uploaded but never transcribed is deleted within about 2 hours.
- Feedback: kept until it has been read and acted on, at most 12 months.
- Usage records (what was used and what it cost, tied to the random device id): deleted after 12 months. After that only monthly totals with no device id are kept.
- Crash reports: deleted by Sentry after 30 days.
- Server logs: not stored. They are only visible live, for fixing problems.
